Two Devices
Topographic data from Google was used to generate a simulation of Derry (Northern Ireland) & the surrounding area. The footage was captured using Unity 3D and attempts to mimic the movements of a police helicopter. The slow pace of the rolling landscape and gentle hum of the helicopter creates a meditative environment, obscuring the underlying sinister potential of the situation and inviting the viewer to take in the rolling hills of the North West.Exhibited on two opposing displays, the work mimics local artist Willie Doherty’s Re-Run, filmed on one of the bridges spanning both the river Foyle and both communities in the City.
